Distribution of Oxygen Concentrators and Oxygen Cylinders by CREDAI Bengal to Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC)

150 Oxygen Concentrators and 250 Oxygen Cylinders donated by CREDAI Bengal to Kolkata Municipal Corporation

In the wake of the massive second wave of Covid-19, hospital resources and medical equipment has been severely stretched, leading to patient distress and even loss of life. CREDAI Bengal, the apex body for real estate developers in Kolkata, has come forward to alleviate this stressful situation through its support to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).

In a programme organised today at Uttirno, Kolkata, CREDAI Bengal members donated 150 oxygen concentrators and 250 Oxygen Cylinders to KMC for their use in their Ward Clinics and Boroughs.

An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that concentrates oxygen from ambient air, filters it and releases nitrogen back into the air, working on the remaining oxygen. It is a very important tool for oxygen therapy, and its small size and mobility helps in rapid location change too. As the country braces for subsequent waves of the pandemic, Oxygen Concentrators are a very important tool to give quick relief to patients in home isolation and in hospitals and Oxygen Cylinders are of course critical for Covid patients.

Thirteen real estate developers affiliated to CREDAI Bengal have donated these and more members are in the process of doing so. The developers are:

Belani Group

Merlin Group
Salarpuria Group
PS Group
Rungta Group
Arya Group
Ideal Group
Signum Group
Primarc Realty
Diamond Group
Ambuja Neotia
Smita Properties
90 Degrees
NPR Developers

Earlier, CREDAI Bengal had also donated dengue-detection devices to KMC to help in the corporation’s battle against dengue.

Says Shri Nandu Belani, President, CREDAI Bengal, “The real estate industry in Kolkata has responded to the Covid-19 crisis by donating 150 oxygen concentrators and 250 oxygen cylinders to Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) because it is absolutely critical to stem the oxygen crisis which was fast claiming lives. The KMC Ward Clinics are crucial for treating all citizens and it is going to be absolutely life-saving for many people who will be able to avail of these oxygen concentrators now and in case of subsequent covid-waves.

Our members have been very forthcoming with these donations and we thank all of them who came forward for this initiative. I want to take this opportunity to reiterate that CREDAI Bengal has always come forward to shoulder charitable projects with KMC and the state government whether it was commissioning of the electric crematorium at Nimtala or donating compactors and dengue detecting devices to the corporation. We are also currently undertaking the biggest free vaccination drive for our construction labourers at our sites which will be a huge exercise towards inoculating India’s second biggest semi-skilled workforce.”

Present at the occasion were Shri Firhad Hakim, Chairman, Board of Administrators (BoA), Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Shri Binod Kumar, Commissioner, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Shri Nandu Belani, President, CREDAI Bengal, Shri Debashish Kumar, Member, BoA, KMC, other distinguished office bearers of KMC and distinguished members of CREDAI Bengal who had donated.
