Renowned Bangladeshi artist Sabbir Nasir and Kolkata’s’ Sa Re Ga Ma Pa ‘famous singer Shampa Biswas’ duet’ Binodini Rai ‘has entered more than one crore homes in the digital world. ‘Binodini Rai’, sung in the style of Dhamail in the northeastern Sylhet district of northern Bangladesh, has surpassed one crore viewers on social media including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram in just a few days of its release on April 11. It has not been seen in any Bengali song recently. The lyrics and melody of the song have been arranged by the National Award winning artist of Bangladesh Plavan Qureshi. At a time when the whole world, including India and Bangladesh, is slowly recovering from the onslaught of the second wave of Kovid, ‘Binodini Rai’ has touched the hearts of many people in the two Bengals.
Sabbir Nasir entered the world of Bangladeshi music in 1997 as a vocalist and guitarist for a band called Metamorphosis. Sabbir took a break of twenty years between Nasir. He came back to the world of music in 2016. His song ‘Amare Diya Dilam Tomare’ became very popular in Bangladesh. Some of his songs ‘Aboltabol’, ‘Poka’, ‘Tumi Dame Dum’, Harsh, ‘Fagun Asche’, ‘Jal Jochna’ released last year have already gained popularity in Bangladesh.
According to Kolkata artist Shampa Biswas, ‘Binodini Rai’ is actually another example of the cultural bond between the two Bengals. Shampa Biswas said, “Even when I didn’t know Plavon Qureshi Bhai, I sang” Indubala “to his tune and it was very much liked by the Bangladeshi listeners.
Sabbir Nasir said, “I am very happy that Binodini Rai has been so appreciated by the people of two Bengals. I have tried my best to maintain the uniqueness of the song. I am grateful to him. “
