3rd International Annual Conference of Bengal Society of Haematology BeSCHCON 2019

With a great pleasure it is being announced that the 3rd International Annual Conference of Bengal Society of Haematology, well known as BeSCHCON 2019 and Professor J B Chatterjee centenary celebration will be held from 16th-17th February, 2019 at Biswa Bangla convention Center DG Block New Town Kolkata.

BSH is a large platform of India for the Haematologists, the super specialist doctors of Haematology, the branch of Medical Science which deals with the treatment & prevention of the diseases of blood including Thalassemia, Haemophilia and all type of blood cancers. On the eve of this Conference, this pre-conference Press Meet has been held at Press Club Kolkata. Dr. Tufan Doloi, Dr.  Maitreyee Bhattacharya, Dr. Prantar Chakraborty & Dr. Santanu Basu and the other renowned Haematologists have been present to the meet.

DR. Tufan Daloi has said that the organizing committee has been ready to welcome to about 70 faculties and 400 delegates coming from almost all states of India and also from abroad. Among them Stij Jan Peter Astarmark, Past President of European Association of Haemophilia, DR. Shaji kumar from All India Institute of medical Science, professor Mathias J Rummel from Germany will grace the occasion by their august presence. DR. Dalai has said that they hope that they will deliver the best Bengal culture, hospitality and an unforgettable experience to these huge numbers of delegates along with our honourable foreign scientists and legendary faculties.

DR. Prantar Chakraborty has remembered to Professor Jyoti Bhushan Chatterjee  ( Known as JB Chatterjee) (1919-2019), the first generation Haematologist of Kolkata and director of School of Tropical Medicine, whose centenary has been also celebrated by the Society along with the conference. Prof. chatterjee was known for his haematological and clinical studies of Haemoglobin E/β-thalassemia and was an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Indian National Science Academy. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Medical Sciences in 1966. Prof.Chatterjea’s researches were focused on the haematological aspects of tropical diseases and his studies on the human red blood cells widened the understanding of the etiopathogenetic aspects of hereditary disorders. His work covered the role of iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 and conjugate foliate compounds in human system and assisted him in the discovery of Haemoglobin E in Bengali people.

Demonstration and training of the various new evidence based scientific method of treatments, highly interactive workshops and discussion on the latest technics of the treatments of common as well as rare blood diseases are the major attraction of the BeSCHCON 2019in Kolkata. It will be a great academic feast rich in scientific content.

In many cases Patients may survive from various blood cancers, one may lead natural life with thalassemia, haemophilia and some other blood diseases under doctor’s guideline. Mass awareness is very much necessary to the various blood diseases and cancers. In Medical science for prevention and treatment, increasing of mass awareness and the discussion on the knowledge of the latest art of technic of treatment & prevention to our physicians is very much necessary. Such conference is an important step to achieve this goal.

At the conclusion, DR. Shantanu Basu, Vice President of the Society along with his members of the Society have cordially invited to the media and the all people through them to the  conference held on 16.2.2019 & 17.2.2019 at Biswa Bangla convention center newtown Kolkata.
